Barrow Offshore Wind project to hold public exhibition

The partners in the Barrow Offshore Wind (BOW) project - the UK's Centrica and Danish energy company DONG - are holding a public exhibition about the project at Forum 28 in Barrow.

The exhibition comes as the project reaches a new stage with the start of construction offshore of the foundations for the 30 turbines that will provide clean, green power to 65,000 British Gas homes.

Personnel from BOW together with personnel from the project's main contractors, Vestas KBR, and the sub contractor and operator of the offshore construction vessel MPI will be on hand to answer questions from the public about the project.

John Freeland, BOW deputy project manager said the partners firmly believed it was important to keep the local community informed as the project continued to progress and benefit the region.

John said: "We have said from the start we wanted to keep the community of Barrow informed so we're inviting them along to the exhibition where they will have the chance to get answers to questions they may have about construction or any other part of the project."

"Over the coming months they will start to see the wind farm take shape. In the immediate future they may hear some noise during the foundation construction phase as that gets under way," he added.

The exhibition is open to members of the public and will be held in the gallery area adjacent to the main entrance of Forum 28 between 1-7pm on Wednesday, May 11th.
