BOW's construction licence was granted on the basis of a detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) carried out by Warwick Energy, the company who developed the wind farm proposal and secured consent prior to Centrica and DONG's acquisition in December 2003.
As part of the conditions of consent, environmental surveys have been undertaken before construction and will continue during construction and operation.
The results will be reported in annual reports to authorities and will also be published on this web site.
Environmental surveys identify and assess the potential impacts that each project could have throughout its life, (i.e. construction, operation and decommissioning) on the surrounding physical, biological and human environment, and where appropriate, advise on suitable measures to reduce such impacts.
An important part of the EIA process was to ensure that individuals and organisations that potentially could be affected were consulted and given the opportunity to comment.

- Marine mammals
- Visual assessment
- Coastal processes and sediment transport
- Socio economics (employment and recreation)
