In July 2004, a consortium comprising Vestas-Celtic Wind Technology Ltd and Kellogg Brown & Root Ltd was awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning contract for construction of the wind farm. Vestas-KBR are contracted to operate and maintain the wind farm for an initial period of five years.

Vestas supplies a full range of products, from individual turbines to the delivery of turnkey wind power systems. Vestas does not participate in the development, financing or ownership of wind turbine projects, but does supply support and guidance in these areas.

Over the years Vestas Wind Systems A/S has installed more than 300 MW offshore and gained a lot of valuable experience about offshore wind energy.

For the Barrow project, Vestas Wind Systems A/S supplied 30 V90-3.0 MW wind turbines, transportation, installation, VestasOnline? remote monitoring system, Condition Monitoring system as well as operation and maintenance in the first five years.

For the Barrow Offshore Wind Farm Project, KBR designed the wind turbine monopile foundations, the offshore substation foundation and topsides and the electrical infrastructure including the offshore 33kV/132kV substation, onshore substation and interconnecting buried cables. KBR also undertook the project installation (except for the wind turbines) and provided project management services.
